Crater Bromo (Kawah Bromo)

Crater Bromo (Kawah Bromo) location

LOCATION:

Located at the bottom of Tengger Caldera. Jeeps can be rented from Tosari, Cemoro Lawang or Ngadas. The one I took at Bromo Cottages Hotel in Tosari cost us $ 55, which includes the Sunrise Trip at Gunung Penanjakan before going down on the Sands Sea at the foot of Mount Bromo.

THE DESCRIPTION:

Mt Bromo (or locally known as Kawah Bromo) is simply the best-known volcano on Java Island. It is not because the mountain affirms that the highest peak of the island (this brace goes to Mount Semeru) or the world's most active volcano (which goes to Mount Merapi), but because of its accessibility. Also, the fact that we can arrive at the edge of the crater really made this popular mountain in the world. Also, Mount Bromo is unique because it is a volcano inside a volcano - the base of the mountain is actually rising from an old Caldera of Grand Mont Tengger (where the park name national is derived).

Getting to the crater is a historic trip alone. The Jeep you hire will cross the Sands Sea (Lutan Pasir), another unique landmark of the National Park, before arriving at the foot of the mountain. Then you have the opportunity to hire a pony ride (RP100.000 one way) that will take you to the last part where you can find the staircase that climbs at the edge of the crater.

The stairs were rather tiring, so I felt that the horse earlier was a life. Do the exercise of caution when climbing stairs because I found that the steps are quite narrow for your feet and you can stumble and fall easily. There are 2-3 rest stops on the way to catch your breath.

The view of the crater's edge is what Mount Bromo is all about. The whole top of the mountain blew many years ago. Left Inside is a big ravine of black granite. A small opening vomit of white sulphurous smoke. Here you have to exercise another caution. In addition to the risk of falling or slipping due to an inadequate barricade, the hot gas valet is very dangerous. Most of the time, hot gas (hydrogen sulphide or h2s)

2s) will fend directly up, but a slight change of direction of the wind points to you. It actually arrived during my visit - a small exposure to this toxic white gas was sufficient to make me cough constantly and I even attended a tourist almost fainted.

My verdict:

An extremely unique experience that you can probably find anywhere else in the world. Getting to Crater is also very easy with well-established tourist facilities.
